Archive for December 2008

looking back...

on 2008 has been a really terrific thing. i can't say it has been the best year ever seeing as it has had its highs and lows, but overall, it has been a fun and productive year:)

these are only a few of the things that took place in the past 365 days:
-began my last semester of grad school.
-the development of a deeper love, appreciation, and understanding for and of our Father... not to say i have it all figured out.
-became more aware of who i am and the person i am becoming...i am trying to leave that up to the Creator. i am finding out more and more that if we allow Him to mold us, He will.
-gained a deeper understanding of responsibility and leadership through involvement in isp.
-gained wonderful new friendships and developed the old ones into more special ones.
-went to romania and worked alongside my big sister... very special time.
-finished grad school!
-decided to apply for my credential and am nearly finished with the application process.
-found a job at a lovely little coffee shop which also allowed for new friendships to form:)
-continued developing my library/archival knowledge through hands on experience... some of the best moments of this year.
-had the first engagement of the six siblings... that was a pretty big moment.
-experienced the best christmas thus far.

as stated, this is just a glimpse at the wonderful things that took place in 2008. and i can def. say that i am looking forward to the wonderful things that are waiting in 2009.

just a few things i am looking forward to in the year to come:
-growing more in love with the Lord- putting me second and Him first.
-maybe getting a little more involved in music...i'm not 100 percent on this one yet.
-starting and finishing my credential.
-hopefully finding a stable job.
-hopefully a road trip here and there and perhaps a couple plane trips to a couple places.
-meeting my 200 books in a year goal.
-learning new things about myself and others and the world.
-picking up new hobbies... like bird watching:)
-buying a kite...and flying it!

and tons and tons of other wonderful things.
happy new year to you. i hope you experience many terrific things in the year ahead.

this evening...

i was planning on on my normal wednesday trip to youth group. but as the day continued, i felt pretty certain that was not going to happen. when it gets rainy outside, i tend to not be a fan of driving...it makes me nervous. it just reminds me of that crummy accident i was in earlier this year. so when the crazy rain comes, i usually just plant myself at home. anywho, today was one of those crazy rain days until just a little bit ago when it got even crazier...it began to snow...yay:) it is so lovely. it is an off and on type of thing but i am hoping that by morning it will be a winter wonderland...one can hope:)

christmas is the only time of year that reindeer are ok:)
these footsteps belong to aura.
more snow.
sooo nice.
my little mouse...i am certain she will not be too happy in the morning.
winter is here. christmas is near. good times ahead.

tree lighting...

a couple weeks ago my family went to the tree lighting service at their church and my friend zack and i tagged along. it wasn't really about the tree...it was more about the tons of fun we had:)

an addition...

to my top twenty...which truly is not my top twenty because i went over by two...which means there really is a great deal of great music in 2008. anywho, this one is an entire album because i have only listened to it a couple times and as of now, i think the whole thing is wonderful.

it is:
welcome to the welcome wagon- the welcome wagon

this lovely lady i know, her name is melinda, she posted this a little while ago and it is just the sweetest thing so i am sharing it:

Angels explained by children-

I only know the names of two angels, Hark and Harold.
-Gregory, 5

Everybody's got it all wrong. Angels don't wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists are working on it
-Olive, 9

It's not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to Heaven, and then there's still the flight training to go through. And then you got to agree to wear those angel clothes.
-Matthew, 9

Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to go do something else.
-Mitchell, 7

My guardian angel helps me with math, but he's not much good for science.
-Henry, 8

Angels don't eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows!!!
-Jack, 6

Angels talk all the way while they're flying you up to heaven. The main subject is where you went wrong before you got dead.
-Daniel, 9

When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath and counts to ten. And when he lets out his breath, somewhere there's a tornado.
-Reagan, 10

Angels have a lot to do and they keep very busy. If you lose a tooth, an angel comes in through your window and leaves money under your pillow. Then when it gets cold, angels go south for the winter.
-Sara, 6

Angels live in cloud houses made by God and his son, who's a very good carpenter.
-Jared, 8

All angels are girls because they gotta wear dresses and boys didn't go for it.
-Antonio, 9

My angel is my grandma who died last year. She got a big head start on helping me while she was still down here on earth.
-Scott, 9

Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals and pets. And if they don't make the animals get better, they help the child get over it.
-Vicki, 8

What I don't get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them.
-Sarah, 7

happy december!

today is the first day of december and i am having a really hard time believing it. this year started off so slow and now it is just flying by and within a few weeks time, we will be in 2009. i think i just recently adjusted to writing 2008 on my papers, checks, etc. and soon i will have to embrace 2009.
sometimes when i get startled, it leaves me feeling stomach sick. this morning my phone rang and it startled me...i feel sick. it is probably a head thing but it happens every time.
anywho, welcome december...winter is on the way!
it is always winter in the library.
